The expected match of the day in IEFA Champions league was Barcelon vs Atletico Madrid the second competitor team of Catalonia based in Spanish. Atletico Madrid started the match pushing and attacking Barca to the extent that it lost its normal playing system but it continued the consecutive attack with a repetitive counter of Diego Simeon’s squad.

In the 19th minute, Barcelona should have been 1-0 up. Dani Alves swung a cross in and Neymar leaped from six yards out to put his header over the bar, despite having evaded the attentions of his marker. The experienced striker Fernando Torres did what he was supposed to do only at 25the of the first half. However, the game took a turn in the 36th minute as Torres picked up his second yellow card which many people doubted about and was sent off. With Atletico pushing 10 men back, even inside their own area at times, the Brazilian tried to take advantage and cut inside to unleash a shot that skimmed just past the post.

Minutes later, his decision not to shoot saw an equalizer arrive from Alba’s cross which found the prepared head of Uruguayan on feet striker Suarez insist the defeat on the 63rd minute. Suarez netted his 45th goal in 45 games this season to put Barcelona 2-1 on 74th minute just after 11 minutes later. Messi was searching for his 500th career goal but it ended in vain. Although Barcelona picked up the win, Atletico will at least be happy with the away goal that keeps them firmly in the tie for the pay back leg.
