Handball League: Police continues unbeaten run
Police, who have dominated the local handball league for the last three consecutive seasons, found the net 17 times in the first half before adding more 21 goals in the second half to continue atop the log with nine maximum points.
The Nyamasheke-based Kibogora, who have won their first two games against University of Rwanda-College of Education (UR-CE) and UR-College of Arts and Social Sciences, trailed the reigning champions, despite managing to score ten goals in the first half. Police’s Gilbert Mutuyimana scored the match-high nine goals.
The law enforcers, who won all seven local competitions last season, share points at the top of the table with nine points in three games played so far, but Police lead with a goal difference of 95 goals.
Police coach, Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) Antoine Ntabanganyimana said “there was no much to worry about with such experienced players.” “We prepared ourselves well for this season compared to previous seasons, we do enough training with the immense support of the institution,” said Ntabanganyimana.
He thanked the players for maintaining the winning spirit.
