A student was arrested suspected of stealing computers

Police in Nyagatare District are holding Paul Gombaniro, a student of University of Rwanda- College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary medicine, in connection with the theft of 16 computers.

Gombaniro was arrested on March 29 following several complaints filed to the police.
According to the Eastern region police spokesperson, Inspector of Police (IP) Emmanuel Kayigi, the suspect was apprehended as he was looking for buyers among fellow students. “Several students who bought laptops from him expressed concerns about the source of the computers and filed complaints with us; we conducted an operation and indeed when we got to Gombaniro he admitted that all the 15 laptops and one desktop he sold were actually stolen,” said IP Kayigi.

He added that police is currently conducting more investigations to know the exact number of computers stolen and where he was stealing them, even find out whether there are other people connected to this theft.
