Patrick Buchana the top Entrepreneur envisages the stunning Cashless economy in the forthcoming Rwanda.
Buchana is the founder and CEO of AC Group (formerly AirClerk Ltd), a software development company that introduced a cashless, card-based system to pay for public transport in Kigali. The city’s biggest bus operator, Kigali Bus Services, signed on, and the service boasts more than 30,000 cardholders. The program was launched in partnership with the Rwandan government as part of Smart Kigali, an initiative to rapidly modernize the city.
More recently, the company partnered with Airtel to release a tap-and-pay card that can be used to purchase public transport as well as shop items, restaurant meals, and event tickets. Buchana’s work has won him national acclaim. In July, Emerging Leaders and Entrepreneurs Rwanda (ELE Rwanda) named Buchana Innovator of the Year. He studied at Kigali Institute of Technology, Buchana later he went in USA to work for Microsoft.
In the interview he held with AkilahNet he said : “Your dreams are always valid. There is never a dream too small, and when you finally start building it, don’t think small.” There is never a dream too small, and when you finally start building it, don’t think small. Be the best at whatever you do, and don’t copy or compare yourself to anyone. You can always be better and you will. Buchan have a lot of ambitious, and serving his country comes first as the struggle still goes on.
